Babar Azam is currently the top batsman in the world. He is a right-handed batsman from Pakistan.
Babar Azam has been in outstanding form over the past few years. In 2019, he was the leading run-scorer in ODIs with 1,067 runs. Azam also had an excellent year in 2020, scoring 1,195 runs in ODIs.

Babar  was born into a Punjabi family on October 15, 1994. He spent his childhood playing cricket and running around the streets of the Walled City. His cousins Kamran and Umar Akmal, who are older than him, inspired him to pursue a career in cricket. He worked as a ball boy at Gaddafi Stadium before joining a cricket academy and beginning his domestic cricket career. He was present during Pakistan’s home series between 2006 and 2008. Babar also started his domestic cricket career from Lahore.

Cricket Career Journey:

Initially, Babar Azam played for Zarai Tarqiati Bank Limited for three years from 2010 to 2013, then he played for Islamabad Leopards squad from 2012 to 2015. ODI match against Zimbabwe. Hence, Babar  made his international debut in the third ODI on 31 May. He played a brilliant innings of 54 runs off 60 balls. His good progress earned him a place in the Pakistan Test squad as well as the ODI squad. He then opted for another series against Sri Lanka. He did not get a chance in the Test series. During the ODI series, he could score only 37 runs in the two matches he played.

On 26 June 2019, Azam was the fastest international batsman to score 3000 runs in a One Day International match against New Zealand. Despite this, Azam also scored his 10th century in this match. He scored 101 runs not out. Pakistan won this match by 6 wickets. After scoring this century, Azam became the only middle-order batsman to cross 32 for Pakistan to score 100 runs in the World Cup. While in the same World Cup tournament, he scored 474 runs in just 8 innings against Bangladesh, breaking the record of Javed Miandad, who scored the most runs by a Pakistani batsman in just one edition of the World Cup.

PSL Career :

PSL Career of Babar Azam

During Babar Azam’s PSL career, he was picked up by the Islamabad United team for the opening session of the Pakistan Super League for US$25,000. In the second round of the 2017 PSL draft, Azam was bought by Karachi Kings for US$50,000. He is the second-highest run-scorer in the tournament after his cousin Kamran Akmal. In the Third Season, he was selected in the diamond category. This match, he was the top scorer for Karachi Kings and the third-highest scorer in the tournament. In 2019 player draft, the same team selected Azam in the platinum area, where he scored 335 points and 53 points, second only to King. He is the King’s vice-captain for the 2020 PSL season.
